Density blocks — mass, volume, density

MaterialBrass
Blocks1
Balance138.00 g
Density8.83

Every cube is 2.5 cm on an edge · stack them and the height grows, the width and length do not

Pick a material, put blocks on the balance, then record what the instruments say.

How to use this simulation

  1. Pick a material in the Station panel, then choose how many blocks to stack on the balance.
  2. Read the balance and ruler in the scene, and use the How carefully it is measured dropdown to add realistic measurement error if you like.
  3. Press Record this measurement to add a row to the data table, or Record all four to fill in all four block counts at once.
  4. Check the Mass against volume graph — each material forms a straight line through the origin, and the slope of that line is its density.
  5. Check the Density stays the same graph to see that density does not change no matter how many blocks you stack.
  6. Turn on Blank the volume and density columns to calculate those yourself from the measurements instead of having the sim fill them in.
  7. Use Clear this station, Clear all, or Copy data to reset or export your results.
